Baby Steps in Yoga

Teaching kindergarten to second-graders yoga, I'm getting back to basics. I'm focusing on breath and focusing on feelings. If I can get the little yogis to sit crossed legged, belly breathe, and talk about their emotions, then I have done plenty. It's hard some days to work on these things myself!

I have found my young students to be open to the lessons, and eager to show me what yoga poses they know. They come to the classes with little to no attachments to what "yoga" means. It makes me happy to see them responding to it. I'm learning a ton from them about joy and letting go of my own attachments.

So sit straight, inhale through your nose, and ask yourself how you feel. Congratulations, you just practiced yoga.
